Acronis True Image 2009

This past week has been a total nightmare once again, not long ago I decided to take my computer back to factory settings due to computer crashes, programs not working due to the fact that I had deleted parts of them by accident and other problems I was encountering, BOY was it ever a lot of work, I did the usual….backed up my emails, backed up my firefox profile and made sure that I had installed most of my programs on my e:/drive.

I didn’t realise how much work this would be or how many days it would take me, not being a computer geek I found myself way out of my depth. Well I thought I had conquered everything, I finished backing up my files and everything that I wanted to keep and stored it on my e:/drive….LOL for once I felt like a geek.

Was I ever in for a shock :-(

I rebooted my computer after choosing to take my computer back to factory settings, the first thing I wanted to do was to reinstall my AVG antivirus software…………As I don’t like to feel unprotected.

Bummer……. A warning message popped up…It said that I had to have service pack 3 installed to be able to re-install my AVG software.

The next step for me was to to run windows updates………………in the first check there were 167 updates :-( …………So I went ahead and clicked update now.
Wow a full day had passed and it was still updating, re-booting in between times…this really was hell! :-(

Finally after 2 full days my windows updates were complete. I still had so much more work to do to get my computer set up.

Ok next was to re-install my AVG antivirus, check and install new updates, then to run a full scan to make sure my computer was safe……….another full day passed.

Then I had to reinstall outlook and import the backed up email file.

Wow Impressed I did it, only where were my connections???? I had to go and manually add each and every one of my email addresses and settings. Yep you guessed it………..Another full day gone :-(

I then reinstalled my firefox and imported my profiles file……….Wow on a high!

Things were getting better, but still days had been wasted and I felt cut off from everything.

I reinstalled most of my shortcuts for my programs but some didn’t work, some of the software programs that I have need to be reactivated due to a security setting once the program is first installed………another problem.

Some of the files that were stored on my e:/drive had parts missing too? what else could go wrong :-( ……..the next step was to find all the zip programs I had, to reinstall the programs again.

The days were getting longer. I decided that I will never ever take my computer back to factory settings ever again!. So off I went in search of a program that could fully back up my computer to the stageĀ  where I was happy with all my settings, so the next time anything goes wrong I will have a full back up copy, doing this would mean thatĀ  there would be no messing around with settings etc, basically it would rule out the 5 days I have spent getting my computer set up.

Below is a video that will explain how simple this software program is to use. For anyone who has been through this nightmare, Acronis True Image is Fantastic! You can download the software below for a FREE 15 day trial, Use it see what you think….I know you will just love it!
