Where has John Thornhill’s coaching program taken me so far?

From the very first week of joining John’s coaching program I have achieved more than I could have ever imagined in my past 4 yrs online.

1. I set up a Domain Name :-

What is a Domain Name?

It is a Unique address that identify’s each and every website on the Internet. Any site you visit, their domain name is shown in the search bar at the top of your browser. I paid roughly about $8.00 for a year, which I will be able to renew at any time before the year is up.

2. I set up a Hosting Account

What is a Hosting :-

Hosting is a service provided by a company that allows you to make your web pages available to the world wide web, they provide you space on their servers for both individuals and companies.

Due to being one of the lucky members of John Thornhill’s coaching program he worked out a deal with the hosting package, this too saved me money for a years hosting.

3. I changed my DNS settings:-

Sounded like an operation to me, only John explained this in an easy to follow video.

DNS stands for Domain Name System.

In the beginning all servers on the internet were recognised by their individual IP address, ie: your ip address is in number format 36.131.259.196, this would be incredibly difficult to remember the name of a website you visited. The DNS maintains a relationship between IP addresses and domain names.

Hopefully this will give you a little understanding, I don’t want to confuse either of us with technical talk.

My domain name was set up with 1&1 so I had to change my dns settings so they would point to my hosting account where my website would be available to the web.

4. Then we were talked through installing a wordpress blog on our server which was so easy to follow.

5. I had to make regular posts on my blog before applying to google adsense.

With any new webpage or blog you will find that some of the ads displayed on your site may not be targeted to your keywords, after a few posts Adsense usually picks up on the theme of your page and you find that the ads become more targeted to your content.

what is google adsense?

Before Adsense was introduced by Google people were advertising their sites through Adwords (pay per click advertising), you paid for the visitors you got by bidding on certain keywords, this ensured a lot of publicity and got your site listed at the top of Google search queries for that particular phrase.

Adsense was introduced to give advertisers more exposure as their adverts would also appear on content related webpages of those who joined Adsense program as a publisher.

Adsense is easily displayed on your page by a simple piece of code inside your adsense account. I have Adsense on my blog and you can usually spot these ads by the little logo beneath them saying “ads by google”.

6. I changed the layout of my wordpress blog following step by step instructions, this is what you now see today.

7. I set up an aweber account.

What is Aweber?

Aweber is an all in one autoresponder that totally puts your business onto autopilot whilst building your list. It has many many features, along with simple training videos and lessons to get started straight away building your list, messages and much more……

8. I copied the code from inside my Aweber account and pasted it onto my blog, watching John this was a simple task. At the top you see my sign up form, this is to my aweber autoresponder, who will deliver you messages that I have set up, once I set them up.

9. I was taught to do research for my niche in the simplest form, a topic that many a time I would mess up.

I have my direction and week 4 is research for the product I am going to be building for the next couple of weeks.

So far everything has been a total success and for once in my life stayng focused has been easy….

I will continue with updates at the end of each week and then give an overall account of my progress at the end of each month.

Thanks for reading
