I bought my first computer in 2000 mainly to use for our Kitchen Business, so I decided I would learn to use myob to make my bookwork a simple task. Not only do I help to fit the kitchens I also run our accounts.
When the computer was set up I was totally overwhelmed and didn’t even know how to write an email, I would receive them and not know how to reply. I was totally computer illiterate and this was my first learning curve.
Then I discovered the internet, I signed up to a few peoples lists not having a clue about anything to do with online activities, and yes I was taken for a ride by many people, some even claiming to be gurus. I got burned many times. So much for the computer only being for work.
I signed up for an all in one program, one with about 7 different programs that you had to join up to to receive other streams of income. From the sales page it looked simple enough, little did I realize how much information each of these programs sent out along with a huge learning curve. Not only that each program had a monthly fee which added up to about $175 us dollars.
Finally after 6 months of getting absolutely nowhere except finding myself more confused I decided to cancel my account. I couldn’t get hold of him, I emailed support and asked them to cancel my account. NO REPLY!, another month passed and the fees were taken from my card, so I sent another email, again no reply, this went on for 4 months before I rang my visa card and got them to stop the payments.
Being New I didn’t know what my options were but it was a lesson learned. I bought a few e-books over the next yr then fell pregnant with my son. It was time for time out from the internet, I decided it was too much hard work and it made me feel totally stupid.
After 18 months I decided I would come back online and try to figure out what all the fuss was about. My next venture was with a so called typing company. I had to pay a starting fee and there was a monthly membership fee to go with it, but I figured my typing was up to speed and I could probably make a nice little income.
Inside the members area was a total shock, there was no typing to do, only ads to copy and paste to millions of free for all sites, a little disappointed I emailed them and asked them what was I supposed to do.
I got a reply, I had to copy and paste adds promoting their company all over the internet. There were different tasks, ad posting, safelists, traffic generation, ezines and each task paid roughly between $30 – $40 dollars.
There were 6 new tasks each month that I could complete so for pocket money I decided to give it a go.
Starting my first task -
Post 200 ads to free for all sites not using any of the banned sites listed
join 250 traffic exchanges and surf 100 pages a day
join 25 forums and leave signatures in the posts
join 100 safelists and post the provided message with the referral url
join 25 yahoo groups and interact
The above is an example of one task paying between $30 – $40 us dollars.
Do you know how long it took me to get through the first part of this assignment?
The 200 ad posts took me a full 16 hrs, ok I decide it was me and maybe I was a little slow to begin, but with each free for all site you had to sign up then verify your account then go back and post the ad, not only that you had to copy your ad to a word document once your ad was available for viewing.
God this seemed like hard work and I had only done the first one on the list. So I plodded on, finally after a week I had completed my first task.
I eventually got the hang of it and once you had joined the sites logging in was easier the next time round. I would be paid about $250 a month, for completing the months tasks. It was long hours and boring as hell but it paid money off my visa card.
This was my first achievement and I did receive monthly payments, the rules then changed and things got pretty bad with late checks etc so I didn’t carry on.
